Today’s blog is a fun one as we’re taking a look at a favorite session of mine, from one of my longtime couples, Katie and Zach! You may recognize these two from their anniversary session that I wrote about a while back, or you may recognize them from some of their wedding day photos over on my Instagram. Either way, know that I have a LOT of love for these two, which is why I can’t wait to share some of my favorite photos from their engagement session in St Charles, Illinois!

Engagement Photos in St Charles

Katie, Zach, and I have a lot of history outside of all of their sessions I’ve documented! Zach and I basically grew up together, and while Katie and I went to the same high school we never actually crossed paths oddly enough. Since then though the two have trusted me with documenting their love, and that includes their engagement session. We chose Pottawatomie Park in St Charles to be the location for their engagement photos, and it was fantastic. The park has a lot of unique structures and settings to work with like the covered bridge, as well as different water features and stone structures. We also lucked out with the perfect weather for their engagement session. The overcast was prime for their lighting, and we had a stunning hazy golden hour on the river to end their session on.

Planning an Engagement Session in the Chicago Suburbs

Chicago may get a lot of hype when it comes to photo locations, and while there is good reason for said hype that does often lead people to overlook the suburbs for their photos though. Trust me though that this is a HUGE mistake, as the suburbs have a LOT to offer when it comes to a setting for your session. There’s tons of stunning parks with immaculate natural vibes, and a plethora of small towns, each with SO much charm to them. Whatever your heart desires for your engagement session, you can find it in the Chicago suburbs. You just have to know where to look!
